Chapter two
Two cities, one story
And so began the long-distance chapter. Barcelona and Zurich may not look that far apart on a map, but somehow every goodbye made them us much further away. There were countless flights, trains, weekends squeezed into too little time, and far too many âwhen are we seeing each other again?â conversations. But distance also meant that every reunion felt like a little celebration. A few days together were never just a few days â they were adventures waiting to happen. Somewhere along the way, what had started as a crazy promise began to feel less crazy and much more like the beginning of something real.
Chapter three
Everywhere with you
Luckily, we never needed much convincing to pack a bag and go somewhere. Skiing, kitesurfing, diving, road trips, tropical islands and places neither of us had ever been before. Some trips were planned months in advance. Others seemed to happen almost by accident. But the destination was rarely the most important part. Whether we were under the water, somewhere on a snowy mountain, chasing wind across the ocean or simply discovering a new place together, we always seemed to find the same thing: another story to bring home with us. It turns out that when you love travelling, everywhere is a good destination when youâre travelling together.
Chapter four
Celebrating love
Along the way, we also had the privilege of celebrating quite a few weddings of our own friends and family. From one celebration to the next, we danced, laughed, raised countless glasses, met new people and shared some very special days with the people we love. We genuinely loved every single one of them. Each wedding was different, with its own stories, traditions and little moments, but they all had one thing in common: they reminded us how beautiful it is to celebrate love surrounded by the people who matter most. And, somewhere between all those celebrations, we started wondering what it would be like to have one of our own...
Chapter five
Home, and one more adventure
After all those flights between Barcelona and Zurich, eventually there was only one thing left to do: stop flying back and forth. Nicki came to live in Barcelona, and suddenly we got to experience a completely new kind of adventure â everyday life together. Just the two of us, sharing a home, making plans and figuring out what comes next. And then came the Bahamas. What started as a Christmas visit to Nickiâs family in Brazil, followed by one of Joanâs work trips, became the setting for one of the biggest moments of our story. Somewhere beneath the turquoise Caribbean water, diving between sharks, Joan decided it was time to ask one very important question. Because apparently, after everything weâd done together, a normal proposal on land just wouldnât do. The answer was yes. And so, after Brazil, Zurich and Barcelona, countless flights, weddings, adventures around the world and finally a home together, we found ourselves ready for our next chapter: The wedding.
